April is always a fun shopping month for me because... it's my birthday MONTH! Yes, I use the entire month of April as an excuse to celebrate my birthDAY. This year was particularly crazy due to the fact that we moved on Easter weekend, so my birthday took second place to the excitement of our move. I'll have to do another whole post on that. Anywho, I added some fun new spring/summer pieces to my closet this month and I'm super excited about it.

Lucas :: 4 Months
Lucas Neal
FOUR MONTHS
FOUR MONTHS
Happy 4 Months, little man! Let me just tell you, you are so. much. FUN! You have been much more awake, alert and are showing off your adorable happy-go-lucky personality. The past few weeks you have grown up so much and its almost if we can literally SEE you learning something new each and every day. You make us so proud :)
Daily Routine:
Well, hmm. :) You've been consistently going to bed about 7:30pm and waking up around 12-1 and again 4-5am to eat. You usually get up for the day about 7:30am and eat about 8am. Your morning nap is 9-10:30ish, eat again around noon, afternoon nap 2-3:30ish, eat at 3:45, and last little nap from 5:15-6. I must say, this is working out GREAT! I love that I am able to feed you 4 out of the 6 times you eat. If you stick to this, you are usually one happy guy!
Weight: 2 weeks ago we weighed you and you were 16 pounds. I'll update after your 4-month doctor visit on Thursday.
Length: ?
Diaper Size: Size 3.
Clothes Size: 9 months is just perfect in most things, or 6-12 months. Pants are difficult to fit over your ever-so-lovable squishy thighs. :)
So thankful for a healthy month!
Eating:
It's so nice that you can go 4+ hours without eating now. You eat around 5 ounces each time.
Milestones:
You've been rolling from your back to tummy here and there, but not all THAT often. You grab at everything-- and can be quite forceful and strong when you're angry! You love to swat at toys, and feel different textures (blankets, clothes, paper). Sadie and you have developed a little bond, and I think you adore her. We sleep trained you this week, (whew!) and although there were about 3 rough nights of lots of crying, you seem much happier now. You no longer sleep swaddled and are now wiggling all around your crib each night.
Your favorite toy:
We got you a jumperoo and you LOVE it!! I love to hear you screech and watch you kick your legs.

I started back to work last week, and beyond a few tears shed the night before I left (on my end, that is), it has gone really well. You are loving hanging out with cousin Laura. She takes you to play dates, lunch dates and plays with you all day long. I know you go on lots of walks, too! I miss you every day while I'm at work, but you better believe I'm thinking about you all day long. I have shown you off to all my students and colleagues. It's been a smooth transition, and for that I am grateful. Also, SPRING BREAK this week! holla.

Each week it changes, but is usually consistent for a bit. Right now, you wake up for the day about 5am. That might seem early (and um, yes, it is) but it's actually working really well for us. You eat, then play with dad while I get ready for work. I'm off to work by 6:30am. You play with dad for a bit before taking a nap. Laura gets here about 8am and dad heads off to work. You wake up around then to eat again. You usually take two good naps for her, one in the morning, one in the afternoon. I get home about 3:45 and get some play time before you take a short nap (usually on my chest because I love it). When your dad gets home we take you on a walk, then you eat around 6:45. You get a bath and a book and are usually asleep by 7:30. And for the record, your dad and I are asleep by 8:30. You usually wake up around 12:30pm to eat, but go back to bed pretty easily.
Weight: Hm... we'll have to weigh you soon, but I'm guessing 15lbs ish.
Length: ?
Diaper Size: Size 3 starting today. Say what?!
Clothes Size: 3-6 months mostly, but they're getting a little snug.
Hair Color: Still guessing dirty blonde.
Eye color: More blue each day.
So much better this month!! You recovered from your virus after about 2 weeks. You still have a little stuffiness now and then, but it doesn't bother you one bit. So glad to have you back to your happy self!
You eat about 4-5 ounces each time you eat, which is anywhere between 6-8 times each day.
Tummy time is becoming more tolerable, but still is just so boring. You look around and follow us around the room. You can SCREEECH and love to hear yourself talk. The fist is always in your mouth, but you also bring toys and blankies to your mouth all the time. You rolled from your back to your tummy on Sunday, March 9th, but haven't done it again since.
Your favorite toy:
Grandma and Grandpa gave you a new rattle that you love. You also love to play with the Oball Rattle and Sophie the giraffe. You are quickly growing out of the momaroo and Rock 'n Play. I'll be looking for an exersaucer soon!

Learning about you and watching you grow has been the best of the best. Love you to pieces, Lucas-son.

New Closet Additions: February
New basics are always fun to add to my closet because I know they will be worn often. I had been eyeing these Gap jeans for a while and finally pulled the trigger. They're a very blue jean :) I love how skinny and stretchy they are, but they do seem to stretch out quickly. I like them best right out of the dryer. I spotted this black dress in target and knew I would snag it once it went on sale. I plan to wear it at a bridal shower soon and maybe even the wedding too- it has a great, girly shape. The dark jeans are fine... They are cheap and they work, but again they feel like they stretch out easily...wish I would've sized down. The earrings were an impulse buy because jcrew can't advertise free shipping on any purchase without me finding something. The Loft silk top was also an impulse, but hopefully it will get good wear. Its comfy, can dress up jeans and be worn throughout the seasons. Win.
1. Gap Jeggings. $25 after GapCash
2. Target Merona Cap-sleeved Dress. $18
3. Target Mossimo Dark Skinny Jeans. $18
4. Jcrew Factory Sunburst Earrings. $6
5. Loft Silk Lace-print Blouse. $10
Total: $77
