Sweet Stuff: Candied Orange Peels.

I made these a while back.  Super easy and a perfect trick for a sweet tooth like mine.  They are best dipped in chocolate after dried!  Recipe here.

Enjoy!

The Nest: Bathroom

It's been about one month since we've moved, and the place is starting to come together! It's my goal to post on one room of the house each week.  This week- the bathroom!  Weird place to start? It was the room that required the least amount of effort. :)

The house has one bathroom, so luckily it's large with lots of storage.  We didn't paint this room because I already loved the color! It's Restoration Hardware's Silver Sage in Subtle Velvet.  (I'm so glad the previous owners left us with paint colors. I will definitely remember that when we decide to move.  So helpful!)

I love the beadboard, and the painted floor.  I know the floor was painted right before we looked at the house, so I'm curious what it was before and how it was done.  It's also a gray/green.

Forewarning: I'm not a photographer, especially when it comes to small spaces with odd lighting. I'll work on that... someday.

Hi, Sadie!
The rundown::
Shower curtain: hard to tell in the picture, but it's white eyelet. Found for $1.00
Rugs: World Market $14.99 each
Vintage Trays: The cream one was found at a garage sale for $0.50, then I had to buy the matching black one when I saw it at Good JuJu for $4.99.
Other: The lights, fixtures and window covering (it's paper and does the job well for now :) came with the house.

For the most part, I am happy with this room.  Eventually I would like to change out the shower curtain or rugs with something more bold.

 Perhaps like this:

Deals and Steals.

I have mixed feelings about back to school shopping.

Part of me has a sinking feeling in my stomach when  I see the stores lined with piles of fresh paper and markers, but another part (ok, the bigger part) is giddy with excitement!  I've always loved getting new school supplies, writing my name on all of it, organizing it... ok, am I the only crazy one???  I guess that's partly when I chose to go to school... forever :)

Anywho, there are TONS of great deals around this time of year on school/office supplies.

Fortunately, or maybe unfortunately, I don't need many supplies this year.  However, in a recent trip to Walgreens, I scored 25 flexible rules for $0.24 each!  Rarely are you allowed to get more than 5 of any sale item, so I was stoked.  Bonus-- Flexible = non-breakable = not as swordlike = less battles in the classroom.  Follow?

In the same clearance section, I scored some large paper travel maps (local and US).  I'm hoping to frame the one of the US to pin the places the Hubs and I travel together.  (Any idea how to age paper?  Coffee??)
This link has tons of adorable similar idea

The others, I hope to do something like this:
places we love

places we've lived
Hope you're having a great week!

Savor craft time.

So amidst all of the craziness I have let you all know about, somehow I've misplaced my camera battery charger.  Luckily, I ran out of battery AFTER taking almost all of the photos of projects I've been waiting to post!  Not so luckily, the camera needs power to sync to the comp.

A trip to Best Buy, Walmart, and RadioShack later.... no battery.  Amazon to the rescue, but I will have to patiently wait for shipping :(

I'll stop my pity party, and leave you with this cute print :)

Explains my past week quite well.  I think I've been through about 25 glue sticks.  YES.

Now that is how summer should be spent.

Fall Fashion.

These 100 degree days have made me dream of Fall, which makes me dream of wearing Fall clothes.  Although I enjoy the summer days sans hairdryers and ironing my pants, I do also like getting dressed up for work.

I just ordered a few new peices that I can't wait to add to my wardrobe!  Let's hope when I see them in person, I'm equally as excited.  I tend to be a habitual returner (is that a word?... or maybe a disease?)  It's bad.

Anyways, I'll be checking my porch for these soon!

Maple Baked Salmon.

Tonight I cooked up some rather delicious salmon.  My mom makes salmon all the time, but this is my first real attempt.  I must say- we will surely eat this often!  This was super easy, and delish.  It has seemed crazy around here, so it was nice to finally eat a real meal at our new house (i.e. not mac and cheese).

Recipe.

Enjoy!
